(CNN) — Two rescued motorists were "absolutely horrified," after a wall of icy water trapped them and several others in suburban Washington on Tuesday morning. A woman trapped in a black SUV scrawled her husband’s phone number on a piece of paper and flashed it to rescuers and reporters in the hopes that one of them would contact her husband. Sarah Lee, a reporter with CNN affiliate WJLA-TV, called to assure the woman’s husband that "several highly skilled swift water rescue personnel" were working to save his wife. The woman and another passenger in the car were placed in a rescue boat, but were "absolutely horrified, gripping onto the railings in the boat for their safety," said Lee. A massive water main break in Cabin John, Maryland, near the communities of Potomac and Bethesda, unleashed the flood during rush-hour Tuesday morning. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/12/23/car.water.rescue/index.html

more bad news ;
MARIANNA, Florida (CNN) — Leaning against his cane, Bryant Middleton shuffled toward the makeshift cemetery. Tears welled in his eyes as he leaned down to touch one of the crosses. "This shouldn’t be," he said. "This shouldn’t be." Thirty-one crosses made of tubular steel and painted white line up unevenly in the grass and weeds of what used to be the grounds of a reform school in Marianna, Florida. The anonymous crosses are rusting away but their secrets may soon be exposed. When boys disappeared from the school, administrators explained it away, said former student Roger Kiser. They’d say, "Well, he ran away and the swamp got him," Kiser recalled. Or, "The gators got him." Or, ‘Water moccasins got him." Kiser and other former students believe authorities will soon find the remains of children and teens sent to the Florida School for Boys half a century ago.
The building was known as "the white house."

"Our focus is oil, but the critical need for water is going to make water the most significant natural resource that we’re going to have to worry about in the future," says Larry Fillmer, executive director of the Natural Resources Management & Development Institute at Auburn University in Alabama.

Looks incredible does not it ? Well the look of this flat screen monitor setup is not the only incredible thing, the price is incredible as well: $7,499. The primary monitor has a maximum resolution of 2560×1600 and the five 20.1” flat screens one of 1600×1200. The number of total active pixels from this monitor setup is almost 8 million ! It seems that the only input is a dual link dvi-d connection in the central flat screen monitor.

Heads up
TV GUILT
Making your flat-screen TV has caused more global warming than we knew, so expect to hear a lot in the coming year about the culprit chemical, nitrogen trifluoride, as governments debate tougher action against greenhouse gases.
Nitrogen trifluoride is a toxic, colourless gas used to etch liquid-crystal panel displays. The industry switched to NF³ after its previous chemicals of choice fell under Kyoto Protocol restrictions.
The hitch is that nitrogen trifluoride is a more potent greenhouse gas than the perfluorocarbon compounds it is replacing. It is estimated to have a global-warming potential 17,000 times greater than carbon dioxide over a 100-year period.
But nitrogen trifluoride wasn’t on the Kyoto list of worrisome greenhouse gases even though it hangs around in the air for between 500 and 700 years, because scientists thought very little survived the manufacturing process to get into the atmosphere.
They were wrong. In a nifty study, researchers from California’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography found evidence that four times more NF³ is escaping to the atmosphere than estimated, with emissions rising exponentially. As much as a fifth of the yearly production of the gas could be getting loose, write geochemist Ray Weiss and colleagues in Geophysical Review Letters.

"Scientists from NASA say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period."
that is a lot ; what if it warmed another .5C
Environmentalists can never accept the planet’s ability to self-heal ; yes it will as but like a human self-heal ; but it can only self heal if the virus can be beaten other than that it dies, as do you and as all things must die but are born again new ; the earth is fighting back in case you did not realize ; in storms ; in earth movements ; in floods ; as but it is die-ing ;
